Science Fiction

The prompt for this photo manipulation was Science Fiction. I don't know much about that subject in its traditional, comic book way, so I decided to interpret the prompt in a way that made more sense to me. Instead of manipulating space ships and aliens, I made "science growing out of fiction." I am actually really proud of the outcome, and my teacher was too.

Emphasis

I took this picture a very long time ago at my friend's bonfire. Her sister was holding the sparklers and I thought it was a cool shot, so I pulled out my phone and captured it. I was actually surprised at the outcome of the picture. I used it in my portfolio for my Fine Arts Academy audition, and also for an assignment on the elements of design, thus the title Emphasis.

Fourth Avenue

I captured this on my phone at the beach last Spring in Florida. I love the different shades of blue and the overall composition of this picture. Even though the focal point is almost perfectly centered, the large negative space lends itself nicely to highlighting the blue sign.

Barbecue

I took this picture while exploring through my friend's backyard. I like that the little mushrooms look like barbecue chips, so that is why I titled this Barbecue.

Movement

I took this picture after a baby duck jumped on my leg at the beach a few years ago. I got excited and I scared him so he waddled away quickly. I thought I was being super cool and artsy so I lied down on the ground and took a picture of his little footprints.

Gravity

I took this picture a few months ago at Little Five Points on my phone. I just thought the shoes hanging from the wire looked cool against the blue gradient background. I titled this Gravity because of all of the negative space around the small, simple hanging shoes.

Pink Banana

This is the best (and only) piece I have successfully finished in Adobe Illustrator. I have never been confident in my vector art, so I was really happy at how clean my final product turned out.

Tiny Dancers

My favorite thing about this picture is that neither of my subjects were deliberately posing for this picture. We were in the middle of a physically demanding ballet themed shoot, and they sat on the chairs to take a break. I like that her hair isn't perfect, and that they both looked very relaxed.

Foreign Girls

This was a very experimental photoshoot. I wanted to see what it would look like if she put her fairy lights in her mouth, and I just snapped a picture. I wasn't crazy about it at first, but looking at it on a bigger screen, I love all of the dark negative space around her mouth.

Night Visions

This was a fun, lighthearted shoot I did with my best friend a while ago. He was sitting right in front of my ring light and did interesting poses just because he felt like it. When we looked over the photos, we both fell in love with the composition, lighting, and pretty much everything about this picture. As a tribute to him, I knew I had to include this in my breadth.

I'll Be Home

This was one of the first major, creative photoshoots I did. It was my first time experimenting with colored lights, and it was a really fun experience. I have definitely come a long way with my photography, and this picture is an homage to where I started.

Slow + Steady

I am absolutely obsessed with this picture. I feel like every successful photographer has a good picture of a butterfly, or some other insect, on a flower. When I saw this butterfly, I knew I had to at least attempt to capture him. I got happier and happier the longer he was staying on the flower. I feel like I'm finally a real photographer now that I have such a good butterfly picture in my portfolio.
